Doubting Thomas
I'd been hearing a lot of talk about Nickle Creek on other people's blogs and I'm ashamed to say I had never heard them. So, I went out and bought 'Why Should the Fire Die?'.
I have to say I was hooked from the first song! I wish I had discovered them sooner... especially in the light of Bobby's announcement that they are disbanding.
I really liked a lot of songs on this album but 'Doubting Thomas' really struck a chord with me. The line that says, " Sometimes I pray for a slap in the face, Then I beg to be spared 'cause I'm a coward," keeps repeating itself over and over in my head. Lately I've been asking God to test my faith and refine me, but when the trials come I cry and say "why, God?"
Oh me of little faith.

Fun Facts
Since some of you out there in blogger land don't know me I've decided to put up some fun, random facts about me. Who knows... some of my old friends might just learn something new, too!
1. I am Super clumsy/accident prone. For example: I fell in the cafeteria my first week at college and landed on my tray, breaking the plate and gaining a standing ovation. And recently I broke my nose carrying a laundry hamper.
2. I love reading, and I finish books really quickly.
3. I'm terrified of sharks.
4. I don't mind drinking warm coke.
5. I love music, but I have almost no musical ability. It's sad, really.
6. My favorite color is green.
7. I asked my husband to prom when I was 17. (that's how it all got started)
8. I love fried chicken.
9. Sometimes I think I should have been a nurse instead of a teacher. I love watching surgery shows.
10. I talk to myself A LOT.
11. If it looks like I'm not paying attention it's because I'm almost always daydreaming.
12. The left half of my lower lip is about 50% numb because of a jaw surgery I had a year ago.
13. I'm an aspiring writer.
14. I graduated high school a year early.
15. I played soccer from 4th grade until I graduated high school.
16. I didn't play in college because I hurt my Achilles tendon.
17. I love rainy days and thunder storms.
18. I like things to be neat and clean but I hate organizing and cleaning.
19. I had five different roommates in college, not including my husband.
20. My dog weighs more than I do. (she's a great dane)
21. My favorite place to visit is Brazil.
22. I love taking pictures.
23. I kind of like the smell of gasoline.
24. I can't snap my fingers very well.
25. I sometimes talk in my sleep. Usually only when I'm exhausted.
26. I grew up as a preacher's kid.
27. I'm the youngest of two.
28. I hate mornings.
29. I'm trying to read through the whole Bible. Leviticus and Numbers were really dragging me down.. whew.. finally into Judges.
30. I really want my life to matter and to make a difference.

Anyone Need a Pilot?
Ok, today Patrick quit his job! This was a very necessary thing, and something we expected to happen sometime soon, but we always thought it would be after he found a job to replace the current one. This is not the case at the moment. Now this wouldn't be a big problems except... well... we like to eat.. and live in a house.. and ect. And I no longer have a job since I'm going to grad school now. We KNOW this is what he needed to do ( long story short) so we're just closing our eyes and jumping... catch us Lord, please!

Home Again!
Well I made it home all in one piece! It was a wonderful trip and I will post pictures in a few days. Ok, did anyone see all the terrorist stuff in the UK on the news? Well it made a lovely trip flying home from Edinburgh!! We were only allowed pretty much our passport and wallet on the plane with us, and the lines were SO long. Also there were guys in bullet proof vests and oozies walking around everywhere! The best part was getting patted down (and I mean FULL body patting down) on several occasions. Nice. It's really not good that I have trouble laughing at really inappropriate times, like being patted down and sniffed by explosive dogs... well I really couldn't help giggling when groped by that lady.. i'm really ticklish!!! Oh.. what good times. I'll have lots of good stories to tell about Scotland when I put up my pictures.

Long Beach & Catalina Island
I took a little trip with my hubby down to Long Beach, CA last night and today. It was a work trip for him but we got to bum around Long Beach Thurs. night. We ate at a fun little restaurant that looked like a light house and had a beautiful view! The food was yummy too. Then today we took an hour long ferry ride over to Catalina Island which is gorgeous! We just walked around and did some sightseeing... it was very relaxing! Above are the pics we took.

Movie Night
So last night Patrick (my husband) was working late so I decided to have a little movie night all by my lonesome. Here were my picks for the evening:
Before Sunrise: I saw this one on a friend's favorites and decided to check it out because I had never seen it. I have to say I think it is the only movie I have ever seen that basically only had two characters and the plot revolves mainly around their conversations. Still, all in all, it was very romantic but left me feeling rather bereft in the end when you doubt they will ever see each other again.
A Good Woman: I really enjoyed this one! It was set in 1930 Italy. Cute story and the time period was a good study for me for a little research project I'm doing. Ladies, I think you would enjoy it most, if you like historical stuff.
