Thanksgiving Fun

We had such a good time with my family here from Arkansas. My sister-in-law, Melissa, took these pics. I may add more later.

We went to see William Randolf Hearst's Castle.

I'm so Thankful...

... for a healthy, happy family this year. I'm thankful for new beginnings and knowing my future rests wholly in the palm of God's hand. I cherish my friendships and wish bountiful blessings to you all this Thanksgiving!

My family is in town for the holiday, so I probably won't post until next week. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you are going to be.

P.S. I have a job interview sometime in the first few weeks of December for a kindergarten teaching position. PLEASE pray. It would be such an awesome blessing.

I Hate Stuffing!

You Are The Stuffing

You're complicated and complex, yet all your pieces fit together.
People miss you if you're gone - but they're not sure why.

No TV....

.....makes me super productive.. errr.. maybe not. Check out this website for a game called Line Rider. It's hilarious.. and such a waste of time!

By the way, I actually do think I do like not having TV. I feel less like a zombie when I come home. I'm actually reading books, cleaning my house, ect. instead of camping out on the couch.

Things I LOVE about SLO

Well, we've been here for a few weeks now, and I've discovered a few really cool things to do here in SLO.

First, we took our dog, Macey to a beach called Morro Bay. It was so beautiful and she LOVED it! Here are a few pictures from our adventure:

This is just some surfer... but I thought it turned out good

Morro Rock (for which the beach is named)

There were sand dollars everywhere on this beach

She looks so stinkin' huge next to me!

Also, every Thursday night they have a huge farmer's market in downtown SLO. They have amazing fresh produce (like the yummy corn and strawberries we got) and they also have fun events. When we were there a few weeks ago they had a truck set up with fake snow and people were snowboarding! It was hilarious!

Vox Dei

At the church that we just left in Redding, they do something called "Vox Dei" in November. Apparently vox dei means "voice of God" and basically its fasting from all the noise in your life that keeps you from clearly hearing the voice of God. Typically this includes tv, music, movies, or whatever "noise" is keeping you from hearing God. Even though we aren't apart of that church anymore, Patrick and I decided to observe anyway. We are choosing not even to set up cable here to avoid the temptation (and save some $!) Obviously, I will go back to listening to music and watching movies, but we're hoping that the experiment with the tv might be permanent. I'm hoping that I'll be a more content, more productive person by the end of November, but I'm also a little scared that I will be calling the cable company on December 1st like a crack addict looking for a fix! ;)
